Leader and Former Marine, Juan Ortega
This month’s employee spotlight is Juan Ortega, a friendly, super knowledgeable and hands-on showroom manager for WDC’s Torrance location. Juan has been in the home remodeling industry for 12 years, and for the past 4 ½ has worked for WDC, and of that, the last 3 years he’s spent as the manager for our Torrance Showroom. Juan is an adventurous soul who likes to skydive, bungee jump, snorkel, and scuba dive, plus he plays soccer, football, and baseball. So, we know he keeps busy on his days off, but his activity level is not the most impressive thing about him… Juan is a former U.S. Marine. Serving in the military provided him with the leadership skills to guide the Torrance Showroom Team to new heights, as well as foster great communication and comradery.
Juan absolutely loves working for WDC, he says “My favorite part of my job is to make a difference in people’s lives. To help make their dream kitchen or bathroom come true is such a joy. Juan has over a dozen years of experience in the appliance and bath fixture industry. He knows his brands, and what it takes for a successful remodel, whether you’re looking to renovate your kitchen or bathroom. He has some great tips for those embarking on a kitchen remodel.
- The best thing a customer could do is some research before buying any appliance. Customers should ponder their options, like the color of the appliances, gas or electric, do they have enough clearance to fit those appliances, etc.
- They should buy now and not later due to supply chain shortages and manufacturers back orders.
- Also, talk to us about package deals, because it’s quite cost effective to buy appliances in bundles since there are manufacturers promos or rebates available. We can give you the inside scoop on the best deals and brands for your needs.
Juan wants to mention one important thing… “In my opinion, the appliance that makes or breaks a kitchen remodel is the refrigerator. Since there are built-in models or free-standing styles, customers should consider their fridge options first and then complete the kitchen around it. It makes sense this way, and helps you have a cohesive kitchen remodel.”
We also wanted Juan’s expert opinion on 2022 kitchen trends. Juan believes that… “The new kitchen trend is induction, and fortunately at WDC we offer a wide range of induction cooking options. Another important new trend is outdoor kitchens. They are just ideal for Southern California weather, and right here in Torrance, and the South Bay, you could not get a more perfect location… Outdoor kitchens are wonderful for entertaining, and relaxing with your family, plus they add value to your home. I don’t mean to brag, but the WDC Torrance showroom just so happens to have a large selection of name brand BBQ grills, outdoor pizza ovens, beverage centers, and other great accessories – basically everything anyone would need for their dream outdoor kitchen space.”
